You Can’t Miss The Second Saturday Art Walk In Sacramento!

Art GalleryBack within the Nineteen Nineties, town of Sacramento started its Second Saturday Art Walk. Happening mainly within the downtown area, the occasion encourages the homeowners of artwork galleries and shops to open their doorways in the night hours on the second Saturday of each month. Arts and crafts are highlighted, with an emphasis on that produced by local talent. The occasion additionally attracts giant numbers of musicians and avenue performers.

I’ve found that many other areas have regular art walks. Davis, simply 15 miles from Sacramento, has a Second Friday Art Walk, and each Downtown Los Angeles and Seattle, Washington have one on the second Thursday of every month. Such affairs seem to be popping up throughout the country. It’s an everyday movement of some kind – for the enlightenment and leisure of numerous folks, I’m certain.

I first began going to the Second Saturday Art Walk in Sacramento with my good good friend, an artist by the title of Arco Tung-Sol , now deceased. (You’re proper – that wasn’t his beginning title!) Arco and I liked having one thing to do on the weekend that did not cost a lot money. The free food was actually appreciated, especially by Arco, who usually subsisted on such meals.” (Thinking of this, I still crack up!) Arco might certainly down glasses of wine or beer with amiable abandon as nicely. Incidentally, Arco had a present or two on these art walks.

Interestingly, whereas strolling within the artwork galleries, I’ve discovered that many people suppose I’m an artist so long as I put on one in all my European berets. (I suppose my gray hair provides to the phantasm as nicely.) You could wear one too, I’ll wager, even should you occur to be a girl! By all means, once you go on an artwork stroll, put on a beret, look bohemian or play the artist, what the hell! New hobbies and life types are there for the taking. And if you wish to play music at anyone’s gallery, they just may allow you to bang away!

Other than Arco Tung-Sol, many different artists have exhibited their work on the Second Saturday Art Walk in Sacramento: Steve Vanoni, Dave Sherrod, Marco Fuoco, Manny Segovia, Gregory Barton, Richard Kozikowski, Bob Dreizler, Linda Fitch, John Van Dusen, Frankie Hansbearry, Henry Garciga , Ann Erpino, Katie Murphy and lots of others. I’ve met all of these artists and a few are my associates.
